Number three will suit me just fine, says Workington Comets' Compton

Workington Comets’ Andre Compton believes his move down to number three will help him discover the form he showed last season.
Compton, has struggled a bit this season but showed what he is capable of with an eleven point haul at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago.
He said: “I think the move will help and I have never been a fan of riding at number one even when I was at Sheffield.
“I always like watching a couple of races to see how the track is performing before I go out so being at number three will allow me to do that.
“I still feel there is more to come and I really want to get back to how I finished off last year and produce the sorts of performances I know I am capable of.”
Compton believes his replacement at number one, Craig Cook, will be up to the challenge of riding at number one.
He added: “Craig will definitely be all right at home as he has already proved this season although he might struggle a bit away from home.
“However, to go from reserve to number one in such a short space of time is pretty good and I think he is up to the challenge.”
Comets Saturday match against Somerset, which begins at 7pm at Derwent Park, starts off a run of three home matches in as many weeks for the Comets, something Compton believes the team need to take advantage of.
They sit a point above Somerset and only five off fourth spot but many teams around them have matches in hand.
He said: “The home matches are the ones you absolutely have to win and if you have had a lot of away matches it doesn’t always reflect your true position in the league.
“It would be nice to pick up the three points at home to Somerset and I think that is a realistic target after our home performance against Birmingham a couple of weeks ago.”
Compton believes last weekend’s break for the British Grand Prix will have done him good after a hectic last couple of months for the team.
He added: “I have been quite busy recently so I enjoyed just having a weekend off to relax. I think it has done me good and allowed me to get refreshed as we push towards the end of the season.”
