Praise for Workington Town coaching duo

Workington Town chairman Dave Bowden has praised the work of his joint coaches in their first full season in charge of the club.
Gary Charlton and Martin Oglanby took over with just a handful of matches remaining at the end of last season and Bowden is delighted with the results they have provided, on and off the field.
“We have got a really good coaching set-up and I am really pleased with how much they are prepared to learn and move forward,” said Bowden.
“I always said this would be a season of learning and then perhaps we can push on next season and so far we have achieved everything we set out to do.
“I think they have also appreciated the support of Matthew Johnson and Craig Barker, who both have extensive experience in the professional game.
“As the season has wore on, I thin they have got a good handle on what is needed and are doing a great job.”
This Sunday’s opponents York City Knights have eased their worries in the pack by signing Ben Parkinson from Leeds Rhinos and he could make his debut against Town.
York are already missing prop Jon Fallon, Brett Waller and Dave Burns through illness and injury. Plus Alex Benson was banned for two matches by the RFL disciplinary panel for a dangerous throw.
But Steve Lewis is back in contention after playing in last week’s reserves fixture.
Knights coach Dave Woods said: “From our point of view, we’re entirely focused on our performances.
“We didn’t play real smart against Hunslet and we still pushed them all the way.
“If we get things right then we’ll be okay and we don’t have to worry about the opposition.”
