The Blackpool away game is one of the season highlights
An away trip to Blackpool - for some strange reason we never seem to have any problems filling the bus for this particular fixture.
No complaints from me though - a full bus means that the usual minibus isn’t large enough and I’m not required as designated driver.
Off to The Travellers good and early with a strange clinking noise from my bag which is slightly heavier than usual.
Having more people on the bus meant that it was a good atmosphere with plenty of crack from people we hadn’t seen for a while.
Blackpool is reached late morning and everyone goes their own way - beach, Primark or pub, depending on their own preferences.
Just before two it’s back on the coach and off to the ground.
We’ve picked everyone up and even added a couple of strays.
This is quite good going for us, we often leave a few behind in Blackpool.
The match is yet again a tale of two halves.
We appear to be in reasonable control in the first half only to let it slip in the second, finally losing a bonus point in the dying seconds.
The doctor was kept busy in the first half, not on the pitch but in the bar and true to form it’s one of our number who’s had a minor fall and needs stitches.
I won’t mention any names; all I will say is that he is definitely old enough to know better!
We were aware that Blackpool were in some strife but didn’t realise the full extent, no-one was left in any doubt when the new chairman addressed the supporters in the bar after the match.
From his comments I’m fairly confident that they will survive but by his own admission it is going to be tough.
We all hope that the club can be saved, we enjoy our trip there each year and the people are some of the nicest we meet on our travels.
